Rotaract at Work

Guidelines

Good business, the Rotaract way

A few clear rules keep the marketplace honest, safe and worth coming back to. They apply to every shop, listing, job and review.

The Four-Way Test

Everything on the platform should pass the test Rotarians and Rotaractors have used for decades. Of the things we think, say or do:

1. Is it the truth?Honest descriptions, real photos, real prices.
2. Is it fair to all?Clear terms, no hidden costs, no bait pricing.
3. Will it build goodwill?Reply on time, be courteous, fix mistakes.
4. Will it benefit all?Deliver what you promise, when you promise.

Not allowed

These cannot be listed, sold, requested or advertised, even as a joke:

  • Anything illegal in Kenya, including drugs, unlicensed medicines and stolen goods
  • Weapons, explosives, ammunition and their parts
  • Alcohol, tobacco, vapes and betting or gambling services
  • Counterfeit, replica or pirated goods, and accounts or licences you do not own
  • Adult content and services
  • Pyramid schemes, "investment" offers, forex signals and get-rich-quick programmes
  • Loans and debt services that are not licensed
  • Exam papers, academic cheating and fake documents
  • Personal data, contact lists and surveillance tools
  • Rotary and Rotaract emblems on merchandise, unless it is official club merchandise that follows Rotary brand rules

Listing standards

  • Use your own photos. Show the actual item or your actual work.
  • Price honestly. Use "From" or "Request a quote" if the price depends on the job.
  • Describe it fully. Size, materials, what is included, delivery time.
  • Keep stock accurate. Mark items sold out or pause them when you are away.
  • Member prices are a promise. If you offer one, honour it for every signed-in Rotaractor.
  • One listing per item. No duplicates to game search.

Orders and delivery

  • Reply to WhatsApp orders within one working day, even if only to say "not available".
  • Confirm orders on the order page so they count toward your shop's record.
  • Agree on payment, delivery and refunds in writing before money moves.
  • Never ask buyers to pay into personal accounts that do not match your shop's details.
  • The platform is not a party to sales. Buyers and sellers are responsible for their agreement.

Reviews

Reviews can only be written from a confirmed order, using the private link the buyer received. That makes every review real.

  • Be specific and fair. Talk about the product, service and communication.
  • No insults, personal information, threats or discrimination.
  • Sellers can reply once, publicly and politely.
  • Offering discounts or gifts in exchange for reviews is not allowed.
  • We hide reviews that break these rules. We do not remove honest negative reviews.

Jobs and requests

  • Jobs must be real, with a real organisation and contact person.
  • Never charge applicants for applications, training, interviews or uniforms.
  • Unpaid roles must say so, and volunteering must be genuine.
  • Requests should describe a real need. No advertising disguised as a request.

Strikes

When rules are broken, we act in proportion:

  • Warning for first, minor issues, with a chance to fix them.
  • Strike for repeated or serious issues. Listings may be removed.
  • Suspension after 3 strikes, or immediately for fraud, harassment or prohibited items.
  • Serious matters may be shared with the member's club and the district leadership.

Seen something that breaks these rules? Report it. Reports are confidential.
